A1: Dirty Deeds
Treading the line between ghetto-tech, electro, hip-hop “Dirty Deeds” melds heavy 808 kicks and claps, a dark brooding almost Reese-like bass line, an off-key female chorus that is suggestive rather than overtly sexual, and slamming rapped verses to a dark piano-loop that is eerie and unsettling but also incredibly catchy at the same time. Nasty manages to combine the different musical themes, which have become the hallmarks of his productions but take them in a new and highly original direction, an interesting fusion that pervades the entire EP. Ghetto-Tech for the Next Generation? Quite Probably!
A2: Electrifying Mojo
This is an homage to a pioneer who provided a space for the mutant offspring of George Clinton and Kraftwerk to create infectious frequencies with which to develop sonic assaults upon the planets airwaves and dancefloors. Futuristic funk of the classic Detroit electro variety is the order of the day here with alien beats and bleeps that reverberate through your mind pinned down by an insistent driving bass riff. However, Nasty once again lends this format an unusual twist with spooky echoed synths that conjure up images of zombie aliens throwing down come crazy shapes in an alien graveyard dancefloor.
A3: The Final Countdown
A heavily reverbed countdown vocal leads the track into understated electro beats before the arrival of a speaker bothering sub bass-line that works its way up from the depths of the Detroit underground before hitting you in the chest and forcing you to dance. Syncopated, affected rhythms morph and twist in the background moving their way forward, backwards, and across the sonic spectrum giving the track movement while a hypnotic synth-riff is held in place by that earth-shaking sub bass
B1: Cosmic Orgasm Godzilla on the rampage in Detroit would be the best way to succinctly describe it and to call the fire brigade is the best advice that can be given in regards to this banging monster. Twisted beats, heavy kicks, an energetic bassline, and a persistent one-hit orgasmic moan all combine to form a peak-time electro-tech beast aimed squarely at the dancefloor. Listen to this track, run down to the club, put the record on the tables, and the words “the roof is on fire” will make perfect sense.
B2: Put The Needle On The Record
The vocals on this track say it all “Please report to the dancefloor. Put the needle on the record. Watch the floor get packed. This type of music that makes you want to dance. Shake it, shake it baby. SHAKE IT SHAKE IT”. A combination of nasty distorted riffs, crazy sound FX, funky female vocals, and slamming beats, this injects a new and intense energy into the groove of old-school electro and hip-hop. Imagine Dynamix II and Dj Unknown going to war with The Prodigy and Daft Punk and you’re still nowhere near describing the power of this track. Nuclear-funk electro for titanium re-enforced break-dancers armed with rocket launchers.
